The course would suit professionals, such as social workers, complementary therapists, dental nurses or osteopaths, for example.

Day One looks at the basic structure of a cell and how cancers form.

The course examines the different types of cancers that exist, and how cancers are graded.

We examine the established conventional treatments used to treat cancer, and some of the side effects of conventional cancer treatments.

The mental and emotional effects that cancer can have on a person is explored, along with how the individual may support the cancer patient.

Included in this course are techniques for managing anxiety, along with some techniques for relaxation.

Note: Non-complementary therapists will only need to complete day one.
The certificate will be issued on completion of day one.

Day Two is aimed at the complementary therapist and covers the role of the therapist and the particular attributes a therapist needs to work effectively and ethically within this field. We also look at the importance of self-care when working with cancer patients, and the prevention of burnout.

In the practical session, we will be learning how the therapist can adapt their treatment to work safely with the patient to assist them on their cancer journey.
